John’s chair

John’s chair was one of the very first fist commissions I received after leaving a master cabinet maker position and starting my business in 2011 (Anxious yet exciting new times). Thankfully this piece of work interested a number of future commissioners and helped set my future path.

Originally commissioned for a birthday gift, the chair has been designed for long hours at a desk. Optimum comfort has been achieved by focusing on supporting the back with ergonomic compound-curved laminations. The whole chair is also made from one laminated component, avoiding the need to make multiple forming jigs as with other complex chairs.
