Pebble table
A large functional low table was required as a central focus in a beautiful home in Sidmouth, Devon. The house had been built in 1925 by local architect R W Sampson.
The couple had admired a previous Sculpted table but we all felt an opportunity to create a new piece of work with a similar essence. The Pebble table is a considered design, creating a perfect balance of structure and elegance. Despite the cantilever being so substantial the table remains incredibly stable (as specified - when the grand children come to stay.)
Being so close to the sea consideration was required for reflective UV light. Various sample finishes were tested for aesthetics over a period of time along with a scale model and a full size template.
The piece has been made using stack laminated techniques and sculpted with modern and traditional hand tools.
“We continue to enjoy our beautiful table, which is much admired”
