Austrian marriage cabinet

Furnish studio director Daniel cook put forward an idea “ Could we convert an 1839 Austrian marriage cabinet into a fine drinks cabinet for entertaining? ”

The contemporary interior design of the social space required a functional object with history and a time honoured patina. On opening the aged cabinet you are greeted with contrasting fine detailing and luxurious materials.

Once the existing interior had been stripped out the exterior surface required cleaning and stabilising. The cabinet is now lined in pigmented, textured Ash and incorporates an illuminated, bespoke wine rack lined in a leather alternative.

It has been an interesting process giving new contemporary life to an antique object.

“It’s better than I could ever have imagined!!  Absolute work of art! I’m over the moon!! Thank you so very, very much!!”
